About

How this methodology was built

Sixteen years of operator work, distilled into five disciplines.

The MEASURE × HACK methodology started in spreadsheets, not in a book. It emerged from sixteen years of running outsourced CFO seats across hundreds of founder-operator companies — the kind of companies where the founder still signs the checks and still loses sleep over payroll.

Honored lineage

Three frameworks shaped the disciplines we kept:

  • EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) — gave us VISION as a discipline.
  • Playing to Win — gave us STRATEGY as a discipline.
  • MAP (Management Action Programs) — gave us EXECUTION as a discipline.

Each of those frameworks is excellent at what it does. None of them, on their own, is enough for the founder-operator chair.

Where we built

Two disciplines were missing from every framework we tried:

  • MEASURE — the discipline of picking the numbers that actually matter and running them weekly, not quarterly.
  • HACK — the discipline of changing the number this week, not in the next strategic plan.

Those two are MEASURE × HACK. Everything else is honored lineage.
