MEASURE
✖︎HACK

Glossary · hack

Hack

The discipline of changing a vital number this week, not next plan.

Hack is the discipline of finding the ONE lever you can pull this week — not next quarter — that moves a vital number in the right direction. Then measuring whether it worked next Monday.

Hack is not creative cost-cutting. Hack is not "let's try this thing." Hack is naming a lever, pulling it, and measuring whether the number moved.

See also the framework discipline page for the expanded treatment with examples and anti-patterns.
