Measure
The discipline of picking and running the numbers that actually predict survival.
Measure is the discipline of picking three to seven leading numbers and running them every week. Not 47 numbers. Not every quarter. Not lagging accounting reports.
The output of measure is whether the operator knows, every Monday, which direction the company is heading.
See also the framework discipline page for the expanded treatment with examples and anti-patterns.
