The 2% Rule
The 2% Rule holds that 98% of what occupies a life is noise, and that the 2% that matters deserves all of your attention.
The work of the method is separating the two, then protecting the 2% with everything the other 98% was consuming.
What lives in the 2%
Presence, real connection, and the handful of relationships and moments that will matter looking backward.
For most people it is not the business, though the business is often what funds and protects it. That is not a contradiction. It is the reason the business corner of the ME Triangle™ is worth running well.
Why it is hard
Noise is urgent and the 2% is not.
Noise announces itself with notifications and deadlines and other people's priorities. The 2% waits quietly, asks for nothing, and then is gone.
How it connects to the method
Measure exists to identify the 2%. A Time Challenge is usually how people find it for the first time, and the result is uncomfortable in a useful way.
Hack exists to protect it with the least possible expenditure of the Three Elements.
