ME Triangle™
The ME Triangle™ is the map of the 3 areas of life used in MEASURE × HACK™: Personal, Relationship, and Business.
The method measures all three. The score that matters is the balance between them, not the height of any one.
They are areas of life. On the triangle, each area sits at a corner, which is why you will see both words: "areas of life" describes the life, "corners" describes the shape. They mean the same three things.
Personal
Body, heart, and mind.
The body is the machine everything else runs on. The heart is what you actually feel, which most builders are better at overriding than reading. The mind is what you are still learning, and what you are becoming.
This is the area most builders sacrifice first, and it is the one that silently caps the other two. Faith, for those who hold it, lives here.
Relationship
Significant life partner(s), family, and friends. On the triangle it reads SLP.
Three different relationships with three different failure modes. A partner starves quietly. Family assumes it will always be there. Friendships end from nothing more dramatic than never being scheduled.
What gets scheduled gets lived.
Why SLP sits at the top
The same reason Body sits at the top of Personal. It is where the area starts.
Your significant life partner is the next person you can take care of once you have taken care of yourself, and, more to the point, the one who can actually help you carry everything else. Some people would put their kids at that corner, and the instinct is understandable. But a child cannot help you run the other parts of your life. A partner can, and mostly does.
You are who you spend time with
This is also the area where "you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with" does its work.
It is not a networking slogan. It is a measurement problem. Almost nobody chooses those 5 deliberately, and almost nobody ever reviews the list. It gets set by proximity, history, and who happens to be around, and then it quietly sets a ceiling on everything else.
Business
Sales & marketing, production & delivery, and ops & financial.
Getting the work, doing the work, and running the machine that lets you keep doing it. Most founders are excellent at one of the three, competent at a second, and quietly bleeding from the third.
Why Personal sits at the top
People read that as selfish. It is the opposite, and the arrows on the triangle explain why.
It is a cycle. You start at the top with Personal, work down the left to Relationship, across the bottom to Business, and back up to Personal. Then round again. Nothing sits above anything else; the top is just where the loop starts.
And it starts there for the reason they give you on every flight: put your own oxygen mask on first. Not because you matter more, but because a person running on empty has nothing to give the other two areas. Sacrificing Personal to buy Relationship or Business feels noble for about a year and then quietly takes all three down together.
Why it exists
It is a map of a life, and the point of a map is knowing where you are spending.
You deploy the Three Elements, your time, money, and energy, into these three areas. Out of them you distill experiences, and eventually memories, which are the highest form of currency there is.
We think it is a complete map. People will argue for other areas, and faith is the one that comes up most, but faith sits inside Personal. These 3 areas are what your life is actually made of, and everything you spend goes into one of them whether you are tracking it or not.
The triangle exists to make that trade visible while it is still a trade, rather than after it has become permanent. Optimizing one area alone tends to land you somewhere successful and unlivable.
In practice
The Business area, operationalized, is Ultra CFO™. One area of the map, handled properly, so the other two get the attention they were always supposed to have.
